Samuel Ronan has served his country for 6 years in the United State Air Force on active duty, and 6 years in the Reserves. During that time he was stationed in Okinawa during escalating tensions with North Korea, when they were testing ICBM's off Korean waters. That incident alone was enough to potentially spark conflict in the region. Thankfully it was resolved without military intervention.
Unfortunately, throughout the rest of Samuel's service, the Global War on Terror raged on, with hundreds of soldiers dying in the conflict.
It was during this time that Samuel encountered his first Government Shut Down, in the midst of war, and deploying members of his own unit to the region, as his Unit Deployment Manager. It was October 2013, and for 2 weeks Samuel experienced the cruelty of politics and war. Senator Ted Cruz caused a government shut down because he didn't want American's to receive affordable healthcare. Meanwhile, servicemen were expected to fight adn die for their country not knowing if their nation would recover from this Shut Down, or political unrest.
26 servicemembers paid the ultimate price during this Shut Down.
It was in that moment Samuel Ronan knew he needed to do more than serve in the military. If he wanted to serve his country he would have to entire the quagmire of politics and lead by example, speak on behalf of the voiceless, and avenge the fallen whose lives were lost without any hope their sacrifices wouldn't be in vain. He applied for early release into the Reserves and began his career in politics soon there after.
Now, 13 years later the United States is embroiled in yet another war in the Middle East, despite countless Senior Military officials telling Trump and Hegseth this is not a war that can be won. Samuel Ronan, stands alone in the 15th District as the sole Republican anti-war candidate, and knows what sacrifice in the line of duty looks and feels like.
